FC Kuala Lumpur Under-8s are top of the KL Junior League table

Super 8s Go Top of the League

We are just two rounds into the 2016 KL Junior League but FC Kuala Lumpur are already making their presence felt in the Under-8 division.

A fine performance against Football Talent Asia saw Coach Chris’ team pick up another win to put them top of the table on six points. Second place Royal Selangor Club and third place FTA both sit on three points.

What’s surely most impressive about the side’s showing this weekend, however, is the spread of goalscorers, with no less than five players getting their names on the score sheet. Qalif Noah opened the count in the first third, finishing off a pass from Firas before Tiago and Liam both slotted home in the second third. FTA pulled one back at the beginning of the final third but goals from Firas and Aden saw FCKL run out comfortable 5–1 victors.

TOP FOR 10s

It wasn’t just the Under-8 team celebrating a position at the top of the table this weekend, either. The Under-10s, now with three games under their belts, sit proudly at the top of the U10 competition on seven points – three clear of RSC and FTA who both have a game in hand.

Goals from Young (3), Hamza (2), Mouad (2), Airil (2) and Nico helped FCKL to wins over Football Talent Asia and Centaurz. The team face league newcomers Sri KDU in their next match on 27 March.

Three goals from Ting Tze Young this weekend put him joint top of the Under-10 goalscorer list on four goals from four appearances

HARD FOUGHT POINTS FOR UNDER-12s

It was a well earned draw for Coach Shazwan’s Under-12 team, who faced last year’s champions JB Warriors. Going two goals down, the side faced an uphill challenge but fought back brilliantly with strikes from Irsyad and then Youssef.

GEORGE CIOCOI

A hard-working performance from George Ciocoi helped FCKL to a draw against JB Warriors – and secured him Man of the Match honours

Unfortunately luck wasn’t on the side of Coach Filipe and his team of Under-11s. Playing against a team in Football Talent Asia who were also chasing their first points in the competition this season, the boys conceded two goals in the first half before a reply from Jack Cruddas brought the score back to 2–1 at half time. But it wasn’t to be, and FTA picked up two more goals in the second half to secure a 4–1 victory.

With round two of the U8, 10 and 12 competitions out of the way, the focus for the KL Junior League turns back to the Under-14 and 16 age-groups. FC Kuala Lumpur U14s face Centaurz next Sunday while the U16s take on the Royal Selangor Club.
