The FC Kuala Lumpur Under-16s got their AirAsia KL Junior League campaign off to an excellent start on the competition’s opening weekend. Facing newcomers Bahau Leggha FC, the new-look FCKL team – featuring a mix of last season’s KLFA and Bandar Utama players – got the only goal of the game to take all three points.

The last game of the opening round to kick off, the clash had the potential to be a scorcher. Luckily for both sides though, the new season was seen in under cooler, cloudier skies than usual. Not that the action on the pitch wasn’t red hot!

With a whole stream of new teams entering the AirAsia KL Junior League for its fifth edition, competition looks set to be very strong in 2017 Season B. Including FC Kuala Lumpur’s strike, Under-16 teams netted 11 goals across the five round one games. The result: five teams sat on three points, four of them sharing the same goal difference.

It’s early days still but the season looks set to be a thriller!

Also in action over the weekend were the FC Kuala Lumpur Under-14s. Pitched against another new side in FC 1 Goal, the 14s didn’t know what to expect from the competition. Unfortunately in a close and nervy affair, it was the opposition that picked up the only goal of the game.

A 1–0 loss for FC Kuala Lumpur in the opening round then, but Coach Azizi and the boys will be back to fight again next weekend when they face the ominously named The Beast on Saturday, 26th August.
